JOHN MOROGIELLO is a Playwright in Residence at the Maryland State Arts Council and a member of the Dramatists Guild.  His plays have been seen at the Kennedy Center, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Center Stage, NJ Rep, Mountain Playhouse, National Theatre, Oldcastle Theatre Company, and other theaters in New York, North America, and Europe.  His Engaging Shaw received its New York premiere at Abingdon Theatre in April 2010.  He wrote the screenplay for Marty Mericka’s film, Happy Hour, ("Best Short Comedy," 2003 New York Independent Film and Video Festival) and co-authored the screenplay of the short, Forenziks.  John wrote and directed the J.T. Burian Theatricals film, The Matchmaker’s Guide to Controlling the Elements.  In 1996, John was named "Best Up and Coming Playwright" by Baltimore magazine and received a Kennedy Center Fellowship of the Americas.  He’s had articles published in American Theatre, Dramatics, and in study guides for Long Wharf Theatre, Huntington Theatre Company, and Everyman Theatre.
